An exciting research facility is looking for a bioinformatic Scientist to work on an agriculture based research program. The aim of the program is make crop production more efficient, grow crops in areas previously unsuitable for growth and increase global food security. The project is coordinated between a few UK research institutes, they’re looking to add to their team of software engineers and data scientists
The Role:
The post is looking for someone to contribute to the analysis of NGS Data; developing the resources such as KnetMiner or Galaxy. The role would suit someone with a strong academic background and published work in their field, or someone who has bioinformatic experience using a wide variety of technological languages.
Essential Skills:
• BSc/MSc in Bioinformatics/Computer Science
• PhD in bioinformatics or relevant work experience in a scientific or technical role
• Experience analysing NGS Data or other high-throughput sequencing data
• Strong technical skills in R or Python
• Knowledge of pipelines and resources in bioinformatics roles
Desirable Skills:
• Workflow management systems in NextFlow, Galaxy or SnakeMake
• Version control experience using GitHub
• Use of Full Stack technologies such as JavaScript, Django, React
