This is an exciting opportunity for a Research Scientist to join an Oxford-based, cleantech organisation with a team comprised of hardware/software engineers, data scientists, algorithm developers etc.

The role:
  • Market research for flexibility services provision via aggregation of domestic li-ion batteries, electric vehicles (EVs), heat pumps (HPs) & hot water tanks in EU, US & Asia-Pacific regions.
  • Lab testing & empirical characterisation of li-ion batteries & inverters (e.g. power efficiency tests, standby losses among others), & smart home appliances.
  • Design & develop optimisation strategies for li-ion batteries, EVs, HPs & hot water tanks, among others.
  • Contributing production code in an agile software environment.
  • Simulation-based studies including network modelling for flexibility services.
Essential Skills
  • PhD/MSc/BSc in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Statistics or similar.
  • 2+ years' experience in a technical role in individual/collaborative R&D projects
  • Knowledge of coding languages (Python, R, Julia or Matlab).
Desirable Skills:
  • Experience w/ optimisation software (PuLP, CPLEX or Gurobi).
  • Experience w/ git version control.
  • Proven experience in modelling real-world business problems as mathematical models.
