Head of Aeronautics | Lead Design Engineer | UAS

We’re partnered with a growing organisation in Brisbane delivering a highly innovative, UAS programme with real-world application.
Working with leadership they are now seeking a Head of Aeronautics / Airframe Design Lead to take full ownership of the aircraft design within a fast-paced, build-focused environment.
  
The Role
  
This is a hands-on leadership position, combining technical depth with end-to-end ownership.
  
You will be responsible for:
  

• Airframe design
• Aerodynamic performance, stability, and flight characteristics
• Oversight of wing and propeller design (including external partners)
• Structural considerations (stress, materials, real-world build constraints)
• Integration with electrical and control systems

  
You’ll lead a small team (circa 3 engineers) and work closely with the Chief Engineer to shape the aircraft from concept through to flight.
  
What We’re Looking For
  

• Strong background in aircraft / airframe design and aerodynamics
• Experience in UAV, VTOL, RPAS, or advanced aerospace systems
• Solid understanding of wing design, flight performance, and stability
• Comfortable reviewing and challenging external design partners
• Hands-on mindset - someone who can design, build, and iterate
• Proactive, delivery-focused approach suited to a fast-moving programme
