Are you an experienced software engineer with deep expertise in computer vision and a passion for applying machine learning to real-world clinical challenges?

The Role

This established and growing bio-tech are looking for a Lead/Senior ML Software Engineer to drive the sensing and planning side of a next-generation surgical robotic platform. You will be responsible for:
  • Developing 3D scanning and point-cloud reconstruction pipelines
  • Building machine learning and computer vision capabilities for detection and tracking
  • Integrating perception layers into existing and next-gen robotic systems
  • Leading architecture decisions, mentoring engineers, and shaping long-term vision for perception-driven surgical robotics

About You:
  • Has hands-on experience developing safety-critical perception and control systems
  • Skilled at applying ML and computer vision pipelines to robotics challenges
  • Can manage priorities, communicate effectively with stakeholders, and mentor others
  • Thrives in a collaborative, cross-disciplinary environment with medical and clinical experts
Key Skills & Experience:
  • Master’s, PhD, or equivalent in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
  • 5+ years’ software development with a focus on computer vision and ML
  • Strong knowledge of 3D scans, point-cloud data, reconstruction, and registration
  • Proficiency with PyTorch/TensorFlow, OpenCV, PCL, Open3D
  • Strong programming in Python and C++
  • Proven technical leadership and software architecture ownership
Nice to Have:
  • Experience with ROS and robotics systems
  • Knowledge of ISO 62304 or similar regulated environments
  • Familiarity with RTOS, communication protocols, multithreading, or safety-critical design
  • Background in GUI development, CI/CD pipelines, or automated testing
  • Applied ML in medical computer vision, especially soft-tissue analysis
