From the Tech Recruiter to Talent Manager

The story of Emma Harmer and her journey from sales to internal talent acquisition

At the beginning of 2022, Reqiva reached a pivotal stage in its growth. We were in the midst of the post-covid ‘boom’ where we saw an explosion of investment in technology solutions and a growing need from our clients to expand their teams. We also successfully engaged with a number of new start-up and scale-up businesses who were looking for a recruitment partner to support them with their hiring goals. At this stage, we knew that to be able to successfully support this level of growth, we’d need to build out our own team of consultants and that’s when we met the lovely Emma!

Growing our team

Emma joined the team as Talent Manager in April 2022 and from the moment she stepped through the Reqiva doors, has played a key role in transitioning Reqiva into the business we are today. What sets Emma apart, is not only her tenacious and vivacious personality, her ultra professionalism, attention to detail and natural flair for building relationships, but her knowledge and understanding of what it’s actually like to be a recruiter within the tech space.

Before joining Reqiva, Emma spent 6 years working as a tech recruiter herself and so has genuine, first-hand experience of the role. She has successfully built both permanent and contract desks from scratch, across a range of tech specialisms and regions across the UK. As a 360 consultant, she gained full exposure to the role from developing relationships with new and existing clients, to building her network of technology candidates, all whilst consistently hitting her KPIs and financial targets.

The role of the Talent Manager

For Emma, making the move into an internal talent role was a natural transition. With full responsibility for attracting, recruiting and onboarding consultants at all levels across the business, she is an integral member of the management team and a force to be reckoned with when it comes to identifying and engaging top-tier recruitment talent.

So, what does Emma look for when she’s hiring? Here are her top five Recruiter characteristics:

  1. Natural ability to build and nurture relationships
  2. Big picture thinking with a flair for spotting and seizing opportunities
  3. Tenacity and drive with a positive mindset
  4. Collaborative thinking with a team player mentality
  5. Quality focused with high levels of integrity and honesty

Well, it’s fair to say Emma has these in abundance! Thanks for all your hard work Emma, we think you’re the best!
