From grad to great
The story of James Morrell and his journey from Graduate to successful Recruiter
When James joined Reqiva as a fresh-faced graduate from De Montfort University he was eager to kick-start his professional career in a fast-paced environment which would offer him a new challenge and the financial rewards to match – he researched the world of recruitment and felt it ticked all the boxes.
Where it started
When his CV landed on our desk one sunny July day in 2022, we liked the look of his background with his Business Management in Sport master’s degree, plus his volunteering experience as a football and cricket coach. We quickly invited him in for an interview with our Co-Founder Jon who immediately saw a recruitment star in the making. He demonstrated all the right skills – determination, ambition, strong sales mentality, and values that would fit the Reqiva culture. Despite him being a life-long Spurs supporter, a minor indiscretion which we decided to overlook (!), he joined us a few weeks later going straight onto our 8-week Training Academy to learn everything there is to know about the world of tech recruitment.
A natural recruiter
Right from the start, he aced the training, excelling in all the modules and showing a natural flair for the role. After graduating from the Academy, he went straight on to our Software Development and Architecture team, specialising in the C++ market. This is one of our core areas at Reqiva and with demand skyrocketing over recent years, James was a perfect fit to help continue its growth. And in true James’ style – he has grabbed the opportunity with both hands embedding himself in the market, growing his network and building relationships with both new and existing Reqiva customers.
Today and the future
Now, two successful promotions down, voted Employee of the Quarter by his teammates for his contribution to the business, a Club Lunch regular for outstanding performance with his best month ever achieving over 380% of target, winning the coveted ‘Rookie of the Year’ award for his performance in 2023 and not to forget his skills on the table tennis table as current reigning champion – it’s all about that spin!
